Vihuelas are made as six or seven course instrument. They have a beautiful rosette of parchment build from five layers (click on the photo to see cutting a rosette) and a nice decoration in the sound-board. String length is 60 cm. Tuning for the six course is gg-cc-ff-aa-dd-gg. Tuning for the seven course is dd-gg-cc-ff-aa-dd-gg.
Woods and finish
All Vihuelas have an Alpine spruce sound-board. Back and sides are made off curly maple or Spanish cypress. The neck is made of maple and the fingerboard of ebony. The decoration in the sound-board is made of satin wood and ebony or bone with ebony. Sound-board finished with casein lacquer, back and sides French polish.
